STX - Henry E. Rolson Airport

The three major airlines that serve our airport (code STX) are Delta, American, and Spirit. American has the most flights and is often the cheapest option from major hubs across the country; it offers two daily flights from Miami and one from Charlotte. Spirit Airlines also has some surprisingly inexpensive flights into St. Croix from major hubs like DFW. These flights make a final connection in Fort Lauderdale (FLL) before flying directly to the island. Delta offers a direct flight from Atlanta, but Delta is often much more expensive than American. If you are flying from a smaller airport, it may be economical to take a cheap regional carrier (like Frontier or Southwest) to a hub, stay overnight, and then fly with a major carrier the next day. Just keep in mind you'll have to recheck bags. Sometimes, American offers an inexpensive flight back to the mainland with a 24-hour layover in Miami. If you choose this option, you can leave your checked backs behind security when you leave the airport to find lodging, which helps save on checked bag fees. When Shane and I fly, we often mix carriers and stay overnight with friends or family at various major hubs on at least one leg of the journey.

Wedding Events Shuttle Service

March 10, 2023 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Between Friday, May 10 and Sunday, May 12, shuttle service will be available from pickup points in front of Victoria House and The Inn on Strand Street. If you are not staying at these hotels, you can still take advantage of the shuttles by making your way to the pickup points at the appointed time. When you RSVP for each event, please let us know if you also need shuttle service. Cost per trip is TBD, but our wedding planner has advised a total budget of $65 per person for transportation for all three wedding events planned Friday through Sunday. (We just added a Thursday night, so there may be an additional cost for people staying at the Featherleaf Inn who don't have vehicles.) Transportation fees will be collected in advance of the wedding. Thursday, May 9 - Shuttle from the FeatherLeaf Inn to Fredriksted Pier. Pickup at 4:15 p.m. Friday, May 10 - Shuttle to Ridge to Reef Farm for Welcome Dinner. Pickup at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11 - Shuttle to FeatherLeaf Inn for Wedding Ceremony. Pickup at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 12 - Shuttle to FeatherLeaf Inn for Brunch. Pickup at 9:45 a.m. On the RSVP tab, please let us know which events you will need transportation to.

Olympic Rent-A-Car

If you plan to stay in St. Croix for longer than a few days, or if you are not staying at one of the hotels where we have arranged shuttle service, you will want to rent your own vehicle to get around the island. We rented from Olympic for the first 3 months we were in St. Croix, and we really liked their service. Remember, you are driving on the left! We do not have UBER or Lyft on the island, and the cabs are notoriously awful and expensive. We do have a friend who runs his own cab service, and we can provide you with his number upon request. However, he only has one partner and his service is very popular. We still recommend renting your own vehicle if you plan to venture out on your own and explore the island -- which we highly recommend!

Other Places to Stay

If you are planning to rent your own vehicle during your stay on the island, your options for lodging are considerably broader. However, if you would still like to stay close to the action near the wedding venue, here are a few additional options. (Note: We do not have special rates or blocks of rooms reserved at these hotels) Cottages by the Sea (15-minute walk from shuttle pickup point at The Inn on Strand) - This charming hotel on the outskirts of Fredriksted is right on the beach and next door to a fantastic restaurant at the Sandcastle hotel. Sand Castle on the Beach (15-minute walk from shuttle pickup point at The Inn on Strand) - This hotel is also right on the beach next to Cottages by the Sea, is right on the beach, and hosts a great restaurant (Beachside Cafe). Be advised that this resort is adults-only and has a clothing optional pool area.
