Travel & Lodging

Travel recommendations for our jet-setting guests are listed below. Waterford City is accessible by road if you choose to rent a car - about a 2 hour drive from Dublin International Airport. You can also get to the city by train and bus lines as well (information below). We recommend traveling in groups - it will be fun! Waterford Castle is located on it's own private island, about one mile from the Waterford city center. With a journey time of just two minutes, the Waterford Castle Island Resort operates a private resort ferry providing a constant 24/7 service to and from the Island to the Waterford mainland. You can drive your car onto the ferry, or you can take the ferry on foot. The ferry sails from the mainland every 15 mins. from 7am – 10pm, and every 30 mins. from 10pm – 7am. If you have any travel questions on how to get to Waterford once you arrive in Ireland, please contact our wedding planner Stephanie Fitzsimmons of Waterlily Weddings - Stephanie@waterlilyweddings.com.

Dublin International Airport

Dublin International Airport is the best place to fly into from the United States and England.

Hotel

Waterford Island Resort Lodges

We recommend that all of our guests stay in the Waterford Island Resort Lodges (please note - the lodges are self-catering, but you will have access to the Castle's restaurant). The Waterford Lodges are located on the Waterford Castle Island, and are about a 10 minute walk from where the ceremony and reception will be taking place at the Castle itself. Each Lodge has 3 bedrooms/3 bathrooms. We recommend sharing Lodges if possible. If you are open to sharing a Lodge, but do not know who to share with, please reach out to Sarah MacQueen and she will help match you with others hoping to share a Lodge as well. To book a Lodge at the Waterford Castle Island Resort, please contact Gillian O'Dea (gillianodea@waterfordcastleresort.com) and say you are with the Sarah MacQueen & Brenden Hill wedding (we have negotiated a special wedding rate). When booking your Lodge with Gillian, please make sure you note who you plan to share with.
