When should I be in Waterford to take part in the wedding festivities?

Answer

We would love for all of our guests to join us for our Welcome Dinner on Sunday, August 11th, our Wedding on Monday, August 12th, and our Farewell Pig Roast on Tuesday, August 13th - so 3 days total. Please take a look at the "Schedule & Wedding Details" tab for more information.

How do I get to Waterford Castle (the wedding venue)?

What time does the wedding start?

Answer

We would like all of our guests seated by 3:30pm on Monday, August 12th. But be sure to stop by the front doors of Waterford Castle on the way to the ceremony for a glass of pre-celebratory Prosecco from 3:00pm - 3:30pm!

Are kids invited?

Answer

We love your kids—we really do. But we want our wedding to be your night off! Therefore, kids are not allowed at the wedding ceremony & reception. However, if you have decided to bravely travel with your kids to Ireland, there are babysitters available upon request at Waterford Castle. If interested, please contact Gillian O'Dea at Waterford Castle Island Resort to book in advance - (gillianodea@waterfordcastleresort.com).

Should I rent a car in Ireland?

Answer

We suggest renting a car to travel in Ireland because our wedding venue is 2 hours away from Dublin International Airport. However, please keep in mind the differing traffic laws - aka. they drive on the opposite side of the street in Ireland!

Where should I stay in Waterford?

Answer

We would love for all of our guests to stay with us on the Waterford Castle Resort Island in one of the Waterford Island Resort Lodges. Please see the "Travel & Lodging" tab for more details.

What is the dress code for the wedding ceremony & reception?

Answer

Attire is "Black Tie". How many times do we go to a castle wedding in Ireland?! Let's get fancy with it! Men: Tuxedos or Suits Women: Long Dresses Please note - the ceremony will be outdoors and on grass. Please take that into account when planning your outfit!

Will it be cold?

Answer

Hopefully not but you never know in Ireland! We recommend bringing a jacket just in case, since the ceremony will be outdoors.

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes, if not, we would prefer if it was just you.
