FAQs

You've got questions; we've got answers! -------------------------------------------------
Question

What does the phrase "No Boxed Gifts" on the invitation folder really mean?

Answer

It is common for Indian wedding invitations to include the phrase "We kindly request no boxed gifts" as cash or gold are the traditional gifts given. However, because this is a fusion wedding, we also have a registry that is typical of the American wedding tradition. We are grateful for any and all contributions to our married life, we simply request no boxed gifts brought to the venue.

Question

What events am I invited to?

Answer

Due to the nature of a fusion wedding, we have a lot of events over the course of the entire weekend, but don't worry! Your formal invitation will have an invite for each event you are invited to attend.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We highly recommend staying at The Ballantyne Hotel as a majority of the events (Saturday and Sunday) will be taking place there. We also have two additional hotel blocks available at locations that are within walking distance of the Ballantyne and shuttle service from those will be provided to The Ballantyne Hotel. See the Travel tab for more information.

Question

Where are the ceremony and reception taking place?

Answer

Saturday & Sunday: The Ballantyne Hotel See the Schedule tab for more details

Question

When do I need to be at the venue for the ceremony?

Answer

For Sunday, please be at the venue by 9:15 AM. The ceremony should be done by 12 PM and will be followed by lunch.

Question

What's the parking situation?

Answer

For Saturday and Sunday, there is plenty of parking availability at The Ballantyne Hotel.

Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

If your child is invited, their name will be listed on the invitation. We kindly ask that parents be mindful of their children's noise levels and take them outside of the ballroom should little ones get bored (or cranky) of the long ceremony. Additionally, be mindful that the reception will have alcohol and it may just be best to take the night off!

Question

Can I bring someone that is not listed on my invitation?

Answer

We are not extending invites to anyone who is not listed on your invitation. Only those on the invite are asked to attend.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Now for the fun part! The beauty of a fusion wedding is that all of our guests will get a chance to experience both of our cultures. We'd love for you all to go "all-in" and be a part of the festivities by wearing traditional clothes but know that's not always possible. If this is your first Indian wedding, please see below: Saturday: this event will be held in the morning and is a traditional ceremony completed the day before an Indian wedding. Men should wear a traditional Kurta Pajama, Kurta pajama with a vest, OR a button-down dress shirt and dress pants. Women should wear a traditional Lehenga (skirt & top) OR a long dress. The preferred color tone for this event is whites, yellows, oranges, pinks, and reds. Sunday Morning: this event will be a formal wedding Indian ceremony. Men should wear traditional Sherwani or Kurta Pajama w/vest OR suit and tie. Women should wear a traditional Lehenga, Saree, OR floor-length formal western dress. The only color to avoid here is red, as this is the color worn by the bride. Sunday Evening: this event will be a formal evening reception and the dress code is a fusion of Indian Formal and Black-Tie Preferred. Men should wear black tuxedos OR darker suits with ties. Women should wear a traditional Lehenga, Saree, OR floor-length formal dress that would be typical of a western black-tie event.
