Things to Do

The Wedding Website of Sara Lewandowski and Jeron Ford
There are so many things to do! Here's a list of things that are some of our faves, but may not be obvious to everyone (ie, monuments, the White House, museums - they're cool! But we want to mention some others!).

District Wharf

Wharf Street Southwest, Washington, DC 20024

This is where our wedding is, and all of the hotels. There is tons to see and do here. Lots of restaurants, rooftop bars, tucked away shops, live music, a fresh fish market and beautiful views while you just hang out. You're already here...might as well explore a bit!

Old Town - Alexandria, VA by ferry

Alexandria, VA

Take a ferry right from the Wharf to other well known DC spots - Alexandria is charming with tons of restaurants and shopping. A great way to spend a day!

Arlington National Cemetery

Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA 22211

This famous location is about 10 minutes by Uber from the Wharf. It's beautiful! While you're there you can see the tomb of the unknown soldier, changing of the guard and some notable graves (like John F. Kennedy). This place is peaceful, humbling, beautiful and worth a stop.

Chick & Ruth's Delly

165 Main Street, Annapolis, MD 21401
, (410) 269-6737

We LOVE Annapolis! If you've never been, this little town has all the charm. The cobblestone streets are lined with shops and restaurants. We highly recommend Chick + Ruth's for the best crab cakes...like ever. This spot is a bit of a dive - but the crab cakes are second to none! Plus - they were featured on Man vs. food. 6lb. milkshake, anyone?

Lincoln Memorial

2 Lincoln Memorial Circle Northwest, Washington, DC 20002
, (202) 426-6841

There are tons of memorials and monuments to see in DC. If this is on your list, we recommend starting at the Lincoln Memorial (about a 5 minute Uber ride from the hotels). From here, you can walk to most of the major attractions, spend some time and spend about 3 hours total. Fun Fact: Jeron is a wealth of information about these places. Ask him for some tidbits before you go!

Compass Rose

1346 T Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 506-4765

This restaurant is SO good. Unique foods with an always changing menu from the chef's travels around the world. Seriously delicious with a cool ambiance. Pro Tip: If you have a larger group (6 or more), book the Bedouin Tent in advance - it is a marathon on of custom made courses complete with stories of the dishes from the chef.

National Harbor

National Harbor, MD 20745

National Harbor is accessible by ferry from the Wharf. It features an iconic waterfront ferris wheel, restaurants + nightlife as well as a new, MGM Grand Casino and Hotel.

Georgetown

Washington, DC 20007

Georgetown is near DC. You may want to take the ferry there, or Uber. It's a quaint part of the city with restaurants and local shops. If you're so inclined - go checkout the University and pick up some gear! Old world charm and history found here!

M&T Bank Stadium

1101 Russell Street, Baltimore, MD 21230
, (410) 261-7283

We love the Ravens - so, of course I'm suggesting you check out a game while you're in town. However, this is less of a 'Ravens' recommendation and more about the reminder that there are tons of professional sports in the area. The Ravens, Washington Football team, the Washington Nationals, DC United, the Baltimore Orioles...all will be in season. It is worth checking out the schedules!

St. James - Modern Caribbean

2017 14th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 627-2981

This place has fantastic food, a cool ambience and an interesting drink menu. If you like spicy...you've gotta stop for this authentic Caribbean food.

The Red Hen

1822 1st Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001
, (202) 525-3021

Homemade pasta? Delicious eats. Worth the stop.

The Record Exchange

151 North Market Street, Frederick, MD 21701
, (301) 644-1166

Downtown Frederick is one of our favorite small towns. They have cobblestone streets lined with local shops, restaurants and distilleries. This record store has tons of hidden gems - as well as the biggest great dane you'll ever encounter (Oliver). He's there Wed. - Saturday and is just one of the highlights of this little neighborhood. If you're staying awhile and are driving to explore - Frederick is a solid day/evening trip.

Pearl Street Southwest

Pearl Street Southwest, Washington, DC 20024

There are lots of opportunities for live music - hidden spaces all over the city. The Wharf has a couple venues, Pearl Street is a small venue and is an indoor/outdoor space. You can likely hear the music from the courtyard between the hotels (or you could venture down!). The Wharf also has a larger venue, The Anthem. There are shows there most nights - the big name kind. Check that out too.

National Museum of African American History and Culture

1400 Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20560
, (844) 750-3012

International Spy Museum

700 L'Enfant Plaza Southwest, Washington, DC 20024
, (202) 393-7798

Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

10th St. & Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20560
, (202) 633-1000

Dupont Circle

Washington, DC 20036

This is a neighborhood in DC that is fun to meander through with small shops, history and pretty architecture. Sit on the spanish steps, visit the fountain. A great evening spot for a quiet, low key night.

DC Improv Comedy Club

1140 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20036
, (202) 296-7008

This is where Dave Chapelle got his start - along with many other comics. This is a great spot if you're looking for an evening activity!

Sparrow Room - Mahjong and Speakeasy

1201 South Joyce Street, Arlington, VA 22202
, (571) 451-7030

Arlington is on the other side of the river from the venue. While Arlington isn't known for it's nightlife, they have a couple gems. This speakeasy is a whole vibe and named one of the best new bars in the area. They also have Mahjong lessons if you're looking for some fun. They aren't open late night - but it would be a fun evening out.

For all the days along the way
