Question

What is the Dress Code?

Answer

The dress code for the wedding day is “Dressy Casual.” Parts of the celebration will be outdoors, so we recommend wearing a lightweight blazer or suit and flowy light dresses. Since we’ll be walking outside, there’s no need for tall heels. Wedges, flats, or sandals are perfect. Feel free to have fun with floral prints, pops of color, or bold patterns. If you’re in need of some inspiration, google "garden party wedding attire” or just reach out to us! For Friday evening and Saturday daytime, wear whatever makes you feel Shabbos ready. That might be a suit, a blazer, khakis and a button up, a skirt and blouse, a sundress, or your favorite jeans. There will also be plenty of moments over the weekend for casual attire, like kayaking on Friday before Shabbat or noshing on bagels at Sunday brunch.

Question

If I'm not staying at Camp Laurelwood can I still participate in the weekend activities?

Answer

Of course! We'd love to have you around for any and all of the weekend activities. Please remember to mark it on your RSVP form!

Question

What are the accommodations like at Camp Laurelwood?

Answer

Camp Laurelwood is a typical summer camp. While a bit more rustic, the cabins are for you if you're looking for the fullest experience of the weekend. There are a variety of different accommodations at Camp Laurelwood with a wide range of experiences. - Most cabins accommodate 12-14 people with shared bathrooms that have individual shower stalls. - There are a number of smaller more private 4-6 person cabins which have a private bathroom with an attached private shower. - There are also a number of smaller cabin-like complexes with clusters of individual rooms or shared rooms that have a private bathroom with an attached private shower. All beds have twin size mattresses. All cabins have electricity, bathrooms, and sinks, but not all have heat or air conditioning. New England weather is notoriously unpredictable, but we've heard from friends who have had weddings at Camp Laurelwood that sleeping in the cabins is a fun and overall comfortable experience.

Question

How much does it cost to stay at Camp Laurelwood? How do I pay?

Answer

Staying at Camp Laurelwood is $75 per person per night, which includes sleeping accommodations and meals. Kids 5 and under are free. After RSVPing we will contact you about sending the money to us directly.

Question

My summer camp days are over: What are my other lodging options?

Answer

We would love for you to stay at camp to get the most out of our weekend, but we recognize that cabins are not for everyone. We recommend the "Fairfield Wallingford Meriden" or the "Residence Inn New Haven Hamden." There are also many inns, bed-and-breakfasts, and Airbnb’s in the greater Madison area. See the Travel page for more information on hotels.

Question

Will the food throughout the weekend be kosher?

Answer

Of course! The Vaad of Fairfield Connecticut is providing a mashgiach (kosher supervisor) in to Camp Laurelwood before the weekend and throughout the weekend to ensure the highest standard of Kashrut.

Question

Will I be able to keep Shabbos at Camp Laurelwood?

Answer

Yes, of course! All food is certified kosher. There will be an eruv around the main part of Camp Laurelwood which will be inspected prior to Shabbat coming in. We will hold Orthodox prayer services on Friday night, Saturday day, Saturday afternoon, and Saturday night. We will also offer egalitarian and alternative prayer options at various points throughout the weekend. We will also all come together for havdalah once shabbos ends. The only lodging option within walking distance to Camp Laurelwood will be the cabins at Camp Laurelwood. We strongly encourage everyone who is shomer shabbos to stay in the Camp Laurelwood Cabins on Friday night so that you can experience the full Shabbos Kallah and Aufruf experience. If you have specific questions or needs, please let us know.

Question

Is there WIFI?

Answer

The Dining Hall and The Lodge at Camp Laurelwood are the only two facilities on site offering WiFi, the individual cabins and bunks do not have WiFi. Please plan accordingly for the limited service. Many cell providers do reach Camp Laurelwood, so your smartphone should still have 4G/5G service throughout the facility.

Question

What if I have a dietary restriction or food allergy?

Answer

All food will be certified kosher with a reliable hashgacha. We will be able to accommodate many dietary needs such as gluten-free and others. When you RSVP in the RSVP Form, you’ll be asked about your dietary restrictions and allergies so that we can make the necessary arrangements with the chef.

Question

Can I bring my dog, cat, iguana, or other pet?

Answer

Unfortunately, the camp doesn’t allow any pets on the grounds... even iguanas.

Is there anything I can do now?
