Salida
Downtown Salida is a very picturesque mountain town on a river that we recommend you see. Visit coffee shops, restaurants, and spend an afternoon shopping at the many boutiques. It is also known for world class mountain biking, fly fishing, and river rafting if you are feeling adventurous.
Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort
Take a dip in the hot springs and a cold plunge in the river to feel refreshed for all the weekend activities.
Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve
If you're staying all weekend and looking for a day-trip adventure, the Great Sand Dunes National Park is just over an hour drive from downtown Salida. If you've never been to any sand dunes, we highly recommend it. And hiking up a dune and jumping off the edge is a must.
Take A Hike
There are many beautiful hiking trails all around Salida and Buena Vista. Use the AllTrails app to find one that is perfect for you! Salida is at 7,083 ft elevation so if you're traveling from sea level, take it easy, stay hydrated, and don't push yourself too much (especially when you first arrive). Or if you're really up for a challenge, hike one of the many 14-ers (14,000+ft peaks) in the San Luis Valley. Just don't be too sore to join us on the dance floor!
