Museums & More

Museums & More

The Smithsonian museums are great for families and free for the public! Be sure to check out the Library of Congress while you're at it. It's truly one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. The newest African American History Museum is one of our favorite museums in the city and is a MUST SEE. Advance ticket releases for May 2018 are sold out. Day-of tickets are available online every morning beginning at 6:30 a.m. ET. Check this link for information.

Parks & Gardens

Parks & Gardens

Meridian Hill Park is a hidden gem of DC, the location of John Quincy Adams' post-presidency home, and encampment grounds for Union troops during the Civil War. It was also the historic location of Sam's 30th birthday picnic. Our favorite time to visit is during Sunday afternoons during the weekly drum circle! Free to the public. Dumbarton Oaks Gardens are 16 acres of beautifully manicured gardens in DC's Georgetown neighborhood. Our favorite time to go is during peak cherry blossom bloom while avoiding the crowds. Open Tuesday through Sunday. $10 fee.

Walk Around the Monuments

Walk Around the Monuments

Our favorite way to see the monuments is to see them lit up at night! Take a casual stroll along the National Mall, visiting sites like the Lincoln Memorial, MLK memorial, and the Tidal Basin.

National Zoo

National Zoo

Come see the pandas! Metro to Woodley Park (along the Red Line) and take a walk to the zoo. Free for the public and open into the evening hours.
