Do I need to rent a boat?
Answer
Boat rentals can get pricy so if you can get together with others and go in on one that would be ideal. Trips up river and being out on the water is so much fun, you won't want to miss out on that. https://canyonboatrentals.com/boatrentals/

What’s the bathroom situation?

There are porta potties on the beach that are a short walk away.

What will the weather be like?

It will be very hot but that just makes the 80 degree water feel that more amazing! Don’t forget your floaties, sun hat, and sunscreen!!

Beach camping info
Answer
Powell is subject to random monsoons and sandstorms. Tent camping is of course possible, but it is nice to have an RV or camper trailer to retreat in until they pass. When arriving to Powell it would be helpful to coordinate with someone else since depending on the water level and how far you need to go down to get to the water, the sand can get thick and it is easy to get stuck.
