Tip: How to Get Around the Island

Tip: How to Get Around the Island

Boracay Island, Philippines

The easiest way to get around in Boracay, other than walking, is to hop on a motor-tricycle. They’re relatively inexpensive, and unless you’re in a remote area, you’ll have no trouble hailing one. You might have to haggle, but you should be able to get just about anywhere on the island from White Beach for about 100 to 150 PHP. If you’re staying on one end of White Beach and want to get to the other side without walking, expect to pay around 50 PHP per person for a shared motor-tricycle ride. Note: It’s best to ask beforehand how much the ride will cost just to avoid any confusion or possible scams once you reach your destination.

Boracay's Grotto

Boracay's Grotto

Malay, Boracay Island, Philippines

Boracay's Grotto, formerly known as Willy's Rock, is the most photographed landmark on the island. This volcanic formation 100-meters from the shores of White Beach draws crowds, who either swim around and below it. The waters around this attraction are generally shallow but visitors are warned against swimming during the 'habagat' season due to possible rip currents. Moss clinging onto the rocks also deter them from climbing, which is otherwise a safe activity considering there are stairs leading to the top of the grotto.

Puka Shell Beach

Puka Shell Beach

Malay, Boracay Island, Philippines

Puka Beach is 0.5-mi long where you have the ocean on one side and a cliff and forest on the other. The sand is not as powdery as White Beach due to the corals mixed in the side. It also used to be filled with puka shells, thus the name. Here you’ll see a few stores and some kayaks, but it’s definitely a lot less crowded than White Beach. The water depth also drops significantly as you get farther from the shore, so swimmers are advised to be careful.

White Beach

White Beach

Malay, Boracay Island, Philippines

White Beach is the beach that consistently earns Boracay a spot on Best Islands In The World lists, and it’s truly not to be missed. It is a 2.5-mi stretch of powdery white sand and bright blue waters. It’s the main area of all of Boracay where most of the resorts, restaurants, and water activities are found.

Go Sailing

Go Sailing

Boracay Highway Central, Malay, Philippines

Try the local sailing experience, the Paraw Sailing. Paraw Sailing is a local sail boat activity. The boats use two outriggers and two sails. Since there is good wind throughout the whole day, the White Beach is really good for this activity. You can discover various scenes that are perfect for photography, or really, just perfect for you to take it all in. There are of course other water activities available, like the kite sailing. Whatever your jive is, there is something that will keep you active and having fun in the island. Not too hard with the beautiful views!

Experience Boracay's Nightlife

Experience Boracay's Nightlife

Beachfront, D'Mall, Malay, Philippines

Besides the gorgeous beaches, the thing that draws most people to Boracay is its nightlife. From beachside bars to lounges with live music to nightclubs where you can keep on dancing until 4 in the morning or your legs give out (whichever comes first), Boracay’s vibrant nightlife offers something for everyone.
