Question

What's the attire for the weekend?

Answer

We encourage everyone to participate in the weekend's festivities in whatever you're most comfortable in! You'll see the bride, groom, their families, and their bridal party in traditional Indian clothing most of the weekend, so feel free to wear the same! For the women, there are two styles of dress most commonly worn at Indian weddings, a Lehenga and a Saree. A Lehenga is a two-piece outfit that includes a top (usually cropped) with a full, high-waisted skirt. The fabric sash over the top is a Dupatta and can be worn several ways. A Saree is a long piece of fabric that's wrapped around the body. For the men, you'll see Sherwanis and Kurta Pajamas most commonly worn. A Kurta Pajama is two pieces of clothing: a Kurta, a loose, long shirt almost reaching the knees, and a Pajama, a drawstring trouser. A Sherwani is a long-sleeved outer coat that falls below the knees and is buttoned down the front. Please note that during the ceremony, heads will have to be covered. Many men will be wearing turbans, but any fabric covering is acceptable! Women can use dupattas for a head covering, but fabric coverings will be provided on the day of, as well! The reception will be black tie.
