Baraat

9:00 am

Traditional Indian clothing is encouraged.

A Baraat is the a parade to kick-off the wedding ceremony. All guests are welcome to participate! If you'd like to join us for the Baraat, please meet at the corner of Gayoso Avenue and Main Street in Downtown Memphis, and everyone will process with music and dancing to the Columns entrance. For our guests attending, valet parking will be available. This is an outdoor event.

Wedding Ceremony ("Anand Karaj")

10:00 am

Traditional Indian clothing is encouraged.

The wedding ceremony, or Anand Karaj, will begin immediately after the Baraat. We will have floor and chair seating available, and you’ll be asked to remove your shoes upon entering the Columns, as shoes cannot be worn around the Guru Granth Sahib. A shoe check station will also be available upon entry to the Columns. For our guests who prefer not to go barefoot, we recommend packing a pair of socks with you for the ceremony. Heads must be covered around the Guru Granth Sahib, as well. We will provide head coverings for anyone in need! You’ll see several male guests in turbans, and for the ladies, your dupatta (scarf) can be draped on your head for a covering, if you have one. We kindly ask that all guests honor the Sikh wedding tradition of men and women sitting on opposite sides of the aisle. For our guests attending, lunch will be provided after the ceremony, and valet parking will be available. This is an indoor event.
