Uber hasnt made its way to the Valle yet, so its not so easy to get around unless you have a car. We typically drive ourselves, but its possible to arrange shuttles and/or private drivers ahead of time to take you around while you are there. There are also a lot of wine tasting tours that you can book that will take you to the most popular wineries. These usually book for the entire day and are fairly inexpensive. Your hotel can also help get you a taxi (most likely coming from Ensenada) or can arrange a driver for you. Reach out to us for any additional information.
Yes! 1000000% . Ive never felt unsafe driving down there or being down there at all. If you have any questions on this, reach out to us and we'd be happy to ease any concerns and or accomodate as much as possible.
Long answer short, yes, you will. But it depends on a few things (1)- Do you have Global Entry/Sentri- if you do, then it will be a breeze, about 20 min wait at most. If not, think about getting one. Its not just for crossing into Mexico but also to get in the Pre-TSA checked lines at airports. Plus, it will save you a headache crossing back over from our wedding (2)- Consider not leaving on a Sunday morning or Afternoon. Those are the busiest times at the border since everyone who came down to Mexico for the weekend. If you must leave on Sunday, plan on leaving very early in the morning (3)- If you are taking a shutle accross and back (not taking a car) you can cross the border by foot. This tends to be much faster than crossing by vehicle (4)- Getting a fast pass. Certain hotels in Valle either offer you or allow you to purchase a medical fast pass. It's completely legal and it gets you access to a speciality lane that is much faster than the standard lanes.
As soon as the hotels will allow you to. I cannot stress enough how busy and popular Valle has become. Rooms at all hotel sell out quickly, so it is highly unadvised to wait until the last minunte to book your rooms. I would plan on booking at least 2-3 months prior, more if you can as we are giving about 10 months notice.
