After a chaotic day at work, Ash and her work bestie Amy met up with their good friend Laura at Tucson Hop Shop. Laura’s friend from high school and #vanlifer Darren was passing through town and joined them for a drink. Robert and his dad Bob were gearing up for a bikepacking trip through the Dragoon Mountains the following day, and unbeknownst to them, they all sat at the same picnic table. Robert and Bob made the realization that the adventure van parked outside belonged to Darren, and the group became instant friends. As the night progressed, Robert worked his magic to grab Ash’s attention and she offered him a piece of her quesadilla. When Robert and Bob went up to grab another round, they asked if the others could save their seats. There was no one left in the beer garden. Later that week, while Ash, Amy, and Laura were debriefing the Hop Shop adventure, Ash said that Robert would have been really cute if it weren’t for his unfortunate mustache. Laura said ‘I know someone who got his number.’ The rest was history. Thanks Darren.
