Travel Note
We highly recommend renting a car if you want to take a scenic drive and experience the Tuscan countryside. This is also preferable if you are interested in stopping in villages/towns or vineyards along the way. If you book a rental car remember to specify automatic vs manual (in the summer seasons they can run low on options with automatic if you don't book in advance). Car rental options we would recommend looking at: Sixt Hertz Enterprise Avis Budget Europcar Please note: you technically are required to get an "International driving permit" before renting a car as a US citizen. You may or may not be asked to show it at the time of the car pick up but you will need it if the police stop you for a check so it is important to have it. Travel Note
There are also many connecting trains from the city centers of Pisa, Rome and Florence to Grosseto. Train journeys are very reasonably priced with some options as low as 15 Euro. Please note, there are several different types of train services in Italy and you would want to look for the high-speed train option which would take around 3 hours.
