Both are part of the Vail Valley and only about 10 miles from each other. Beaver Creek is near and dear to the Bergan family while Vail is near and dear to the Rice family. We see this as the best of both worlds! Our wedding will take place in Beaver Creek at the Beaver Creek Chapel. Our room block and reception will be in Vail. That being said, there are plenty of lovely accommodations in Beaver Creek and it is an easy drive if that is your fancy.
Vail Village and Lionshead are connected by walking/biking paths as well as a free shuttle so a car is not necessary. If you would like to hike, explore Beaver Creek or explore outside of the villages a car would be recommended. Just a reminder, the wedding mass is in Beaver Creek and transportation will not be provided.
It's a toss up. Expect anything from blazing sun to snowflakes. Early June you can expect temperatures to range from low 50s to high 80s. At the end of the day, Vail's elevation is 8,150 ft, so come prepared!
If you plan on driving to Vail from Denver, Denver is a great city to explore over the course of a couple of days. Catch a Colorado Rockies game, explore Red Rocks Amphitheater, go to one of the many breweries in the RiNo neighborhood or visit the college town of Boulder. Here are some other suggestions: Aspen, CO (~2 hours west); Steamboat Springs, CO (`~ 2 hours north); Grand Junction, CO ( ~2 hours west); Moab, UT (~4 hours west)
LOTS! Hiking, biking, golf, horseback riding, shopping, spa, pool relaxation (Hyatt has a pool), Vail Farmers' Market and Art Show.
