Glacier National Park
Our favorite national park, just a 15 minute drive from Columbia Falls. Entry to the park will require some preplanning, but GNP is DEFINITELY worth visiting! Pro tip: pick a hike off Going to the Sun Road to find the mountain goats!! :D
Whitefish Mountain Resort
or Big Mountain, as known by the locals! During the summer there are several ways to enjoy the outdoors, including hikes, zip lines, an alpine slide, (Katie's personal favorite Big Mountain activity), and scenic lift rides. Downtown Whitefish is also a gorgeous (but somewhat touristy) area with a lots of local shops, cafes, and farmers markets.
Flathead Lake, Hungry Horse Reservoir, and Flathead River
There are several major lakes and rivers throughout the area. The Flathead Lake and River are world famous, and offer beautiful views and colorful, rainbow-like rocks. There are plenty of opportunities to fish, float, rent ski boats, pontoons, kayaks and SUPs, or go whitewater rafting.
Gunsight Saloon
Great food, drinks, and more often than not, live music! Also where we plan to head Friday night!
Montana Coffee Traders
Hands down the best coffee and breakfast around!! Located across the parking lot from Cedar Creek Lodge. Additional locations in Whitefish and Kalispell
Norm's News
The Flathead Valley's only Old Fashioned Soda Fountain! Austin's grandmother worked here in high school, and it's safe to say that not too much has changed! We are proud endorsers of their motto: "Eat dessert first!" Must try their huckleberry shake!!
Blue Moon Nite Club and Arena
A local favorite bar and rodeo arena, all in one! Owned by family friends, this bar offers a very "authentic MT" experience. Plan to attend one of their summer rodeos with events once a week or so.
