Rebecca and Tyler grew up within miles of each other in Rancho Cucamonga and even attended the same middle school. Their paths crossed several times within friend groups when they were younger, but their connection didn’t truly spark until rehearsal dinner at Rebecca’s younger sister Emily and Tyler’s friend Daniel’s Wedding. Tyler was a groomsman and the night of rehearsal dinner, Tyler sat himself down right next to Rebecca and never looked back. Tyler and Rebecca bantered back and forth like they had been together for 10 years. Rebecca ate off Tyler’s plate, and the next day at the wedding, Tyler made sure to mention Rebecca in his speech. After Emily and Daniel’s wedding, they went their separate ways - Rebecca back to LA, Tyler back across the country to Miami. Tyler couldn’t stop talking about Rebecca to his best friend Daniel, and Rebecca kept finding excuses to text him asking for dog advice or updating him on her new job. After about a month, Tyler got the opportunity to move back to California so Rebecca immediately invited him to Dodger's Pups in the Park his first weekend back. And the rest is history!
If there's one thing that Rebecca hates, it’s being surprised. As someone who has a very calculated outlook on every aspect of her life, it was going to take some next-level sneaking from Tyler to try to pull off any proposal preparation without being caught. Tyler spent weeks analyzing stones and bands as Rebecca had expressed a very specific type of ring that she was hoping for. During this process, he actually became quite close with the employees at the jewelry store as they helped him decide on the perfect one. Tyler got the call to go pick up the ring and was shocked to find that the ring they had ordered had almost NO similarities to the one he thought they had agreed upon. So it took another three weeks to actually procure what ended up being the perfect ring. Tyler's plan was to turn one actual work trip to LA into three "work trips" so Rebecca wouldn't be suspicious when it came time to propose. The second one would be where he would pop the question. With the help of Tyler's brother Nicho and sister-in-law Halley, they came up with the plan to do a double date on the night of the second “work trip” in LA. Conveniently enough, Rebecca interjected by saying that they should go to Casa Blanca, Tyler and Rebecca's favorite restaurant in LA. This of course, worked almost too perfectly with Tyler's plan as he had already made arrangements to go to dinner at that very restaurant. Rebecca had her suspicions on a couple different occasions that a proposal may have been forthcoming, and the actual day itself was no different. Tyler knew that a whole day of suspense leading up to the event would only serve to make Rebecca flustered, so he kept the surprise afoot until Halley went to go pick up Rebecca for dinner. At that point he instructed her to hand Rebecca a letter letting her know to wear something nice. Of course, at that point Rebecca had already fully suspected this could be happening, so she didn't even have to change. While all of that was happening, Tyler and Nicho were setting up the spot where he would pop the question. Tyler had scoped out a spot during his first work trip to LA, and thought he had found the perfect spot on the beach near the Venice boardwalk. Of course, when Tyler went originally, it was a Wednesday at 2:00. So when the boys showed up to the spot on a Saturday afternoon in the middle of July, it was far from a romantic private scene. They called an audible and found a spot not too far down the beach where they set the scene for later that night. Halley and Rebecca got to LA in record time leaving Tyler and Nicho mere seconds to spare in order for Tyler to be at the restaurant before them. Once they arrived, Halley told Rebecca she was only dropping her off and to head inside. Tyler met Rebecca at the door and walked her to the table where he handed her yet another note. At this point he suspected that she was fully aware of what was happening, so he pulled the curtain back enough to let her know that it wouldn't be happening at the restaurant and that she should enjoy her meal without that extra stress. The two enjoyed a classic Casablanca dinner and then set off for the beach. What was probably around 10 minutes from the restaurant to the beach parking lot felt more like a lifetime as both of them were nervous for what was about to happen. From both of their recollections, the walk from the car to the spot on the beach was even longer and was a mix of pure joy and terrifying nervousness. Once they arrived at the spot, a private moment was shared before the question was asked and answered with a resounding YES. The drive back home was arguably the most fun part of the day for the two of them as they got to discuss every little detail that they couldn't talk to each other about until that point. When they got home, Tyler had invited all of their family and friends to his dad's house to celebrate where they had a great night to cap off a perfect day.
