It was a twice-weekly ritual for Josh and Michael to have a beer (or two!) in their hour-long break before an Artificial Intelligence class in their senior year at Middle Tennessee State University. Josh always walked out from exams halfway through and waited outside, while Michael glaringly shook his head.

Michael and Hayley fought over which side Danielle would be on, so that's all you really need to know about Danielle. She's an amazing friend, has been an eyewitness to Hayley and Michael's relationship from the beginning, and Nashville wouldn't be the same without her.
Joni Schmidt

Tough as nails, Joni is someone Michael looks to for inspiration. She has had a profound impact on Michael's life since growing up and continues to show him what is possible. Joni and Michael share some of their dearest memories as well as childhood drama (ask Joni about "Chewy")
Amelia Hayden

Hayley and Amelia met in Atlanta at Portfolio Center. They were supposed to be roommates (long story) but ended up becoming just best friends instead. Amelia is always there for Hayley, and when she couldn't physically be there for her, she introduced Hayley to Danielle and Leigh Anna to be her Nashville stand-ins.
Henry Schmidt

Henry is Michael's younger brother. They've enjoyed spending outdoor time together. The brothers have gone sledding in the middle of a snowstorm, camped in the wilderness with our dad, and drove ATV trails on family land.
Leigh Anna Thompson

Hayley and Leigh Anna met in Atlanta at Portfolio Center, but they really didn't become close friends until Hayley called Leigh Anna to ask her about Nashville. It was on that call that Leigh Anna told Hayley she was moving back. They've spent many nights giggling and dancing down on Broadway, and Hayley has full faith that Leigh Anna will have everyone on the dance floor until the last song is played.
Cristine Schmidt

Cristine is Michael's youngest sister. Michael enjoyed visiting Cristine in Puerto Rico and Colorado. Over the past few years, they have become closer -- literally miles closer. Coincidently, Cristine and Michael's work paths cross despite working in different states.
Lili Kliminsky

Lili and Hayley met when Hayley lived in Raleigh, NC. They've been on many adventures together (some involving fish bowls and piano bars). No matter how far apart they live nowadays, Hayley knows she can always call on Lili to be there for her.

Nathan is Hayley's brother and has welcomed Michael into the family with open arms. They're able to talk all sorts of nerd stuff while Hayley and Nathan's wife, Kristen, discuss more important things like cheese dip, women's rights, and the Bachelorette.
Shannon Davis

Shannon and Hayley met while at Kent State University. Because Shannon is an art director and Hayley is a copywriter, it's like their friendship was just supposed to match up. Shannon and Hayley both lived in Lakewood, OH after graduation and spent every Friday night going to a dance class at the Y, ordering pizza, and drinking wine until the sun comes up. Sometimes when they get together they try to relive those days...the next morning is always harder than what they remember it being!
Zachary Reaver

Zachary is Hayley's youngest brother, and Hayley and Michael couldn't be happier to have him as part of their day. Michael and Zachary have recently been trying to one-up each other on the gift-giving front, and the family can't wait to see what levels it will get to over the years.
Erin Herrmann

Erin and Hayley became friends because of Megan. Megan is Erin's older sister, and when Erin moved to North Carolina, Megan made sure Hayley and Erin became fast friends. Erin and Hayley navigated the early days of online dating together and once you go through something like that, you become friends for life.
Tony Lassandro

Tony and Michael first met at Belmont University while developing an iOS phone app. After surviving exploitation, Tony and Michael's camaraderie keeps them in high spirits to this day. They both enjoy complaining about the nuisance programming from others and take awe in syntactic sugars. Tony introduced Michael to real-world software development.
Megan Fogleson

Megan and Hayley went to Kent State University together, but it wasn't until Hayley moved into Megan's apartment for a month and a half after graduation that they became lifelong friends. Hayley was there when Matt proposed to Megan and was a surprise guest at their wedding. And after all these years, Hayley looks forward to the girls' trips Megan plans because they are always the most fun!
