Travel Note
Our wedding venue is north of Salt Lake City itself in a town called Layton (~25 min drive north of downtown). While we describe a lot options in the general Salt Lake area, we suggest to get a rental car (more details below) and encourage folks to share the cost.
Flight
The main airport in town is the Salt Lake City International Airport. When you come in on your approach into Salt Lake City, be sure to open your window visor because this airport has some of the best views in the USA. The airport is undergoing renovations, and if you land in B-terminal (anything other than Delta: Southwest, United, American etc), you might have a 1.1 mile walk ahead of you, so be sure to use the restroom and grab some water. By the time of the wedding the main tunnel from B-to-A might be finished, shortening the distance. Let's hope that is the case!
Rental Car
The easiest way to get around is a rental car. Since this is a small wedding, feel free to share this expense with other friends or family. We have added the enterprise company above (they are closest to Randy + Becca's house), but Costco has a nice interface that offers discounted rental cars (to all the companies), so if you have a Costco membership we reconmend you to use them. Typically it is cheaper to rent a car *not from the airport*. So please talk to Randy about coordinating a pickup from the airport with their car and taking you to your rental car company of choice. If you rent a car, this will enable you to get the full Salt Lake City experience, where you can explore the Great Salt Lake itself and visit the canyons for a hike.
Train
If you don't feel like renting a car for your time in SLC, there is a good light rail system to get around. From the airport you will want to take the Green Line (to West Valley City; ground floor of the airport, walk all the way to the East). This train will take you downtown, is only $2.50 per person and takes ~20 mins. If you want to get around downtown, the red and the blue line split up the work. The red eastbound (towards University Medical) goes all the way up to the University of Utah, a place Randy frequents 1-2 times per week. The other direction (Red towards Daybreak or Blue towards Draper) leads south of town towards Becca's workplace, but there is not much to do down there on foot, so we suggest staying up near downtown if you are using public transport. If you plan on taking more than one ride a day, go ahead and buy the $5 all day pass (https://www.rideuta.com/Fares-And-Passes/Transit-Mobile-Ticketing). This will give you access to all the buses as well for the day.
Train
The FrontRunner is a longer distance train compared to the Trax, and goes all the way from Ogden down to Provo. We note this train here because for those who plan to stay downtown, you can take the Blue Trax line to the FrontRunner which can then take you to Layton (within 3 miles of the wedding venue).
