How We Met

Randall and Shelby first met while working at Redstone in 2016. Within a short amount of time they became very good friends often grabbing food and drinks in between shifts to just talk about life. In that time it became obvious that there was "something there" between the two of them and after six months of friendship they finally decided to give it a shot. Their first "official" date was New Years Eve in Philly with friends from work where everything seemingly just fit into place. After a year and a half of dating they decided to move in together, buying a home. Now, four years later, the two are still inseparable and thrilled to be starting this next chapter of their lives together.

How Did He Ask?

Randall and Shelby started talking about getting married and spending their lives together during the last few months of 2019. Because of this, they decided to go look at rings where Shelby finally found the "one" in late January of 2020. As we all know, 2020 was a year full of ups and downs, doubt, and change of plans; so although Shelby knew a purchase had been made, she had no idea when Randall was going to ask. Cleverly enough, Randall used the pandemic to his benefit and kept telling Shelby he left the ring in the "safest place he knows"- the store, and since the store was closed due to the pandemic, he couldn't pick it up to ask her even if he wanted to. Shelby bought this excuse, and despite being sad, knew that it would happen eventually. So, for 6 months, Shelby and Randall found different things to do to keep them busy during the pandemic. This included hiking, going down the shore, and taking their dogs to one of their favorite spots to hang out and swim- blue hole. On June 26th, they went to that same spot with two of their four dogs, Remy and Zayda. After swimming and playing with the dogs in the water, Shelby decided to sit in her beach chair and relax for a bit. Randall, who had been nervously pacing suddenly got down on one knee in front of Shelby. He said, "I have something to tell you, I have been lying to you for the last 6 months". In that moment, Shelby was not sure if she was about to drown him or not, but she let him continue. He then said, "I have been carrying this ring with me everywhere we have gone for the last 6 months (he pulled the ring out at this point) waiting for the perfect moment." Randall then asked Shelby to marry him where she instantly started to cry and said "YES!" That night, they shared the news with their friends and family and went to dinner to celebrate with one another, enjoying the fact that they were now engaged.
