A Charleston classic! We recommend parking at the East Bay/Prioleau garage (one word - search it like that). It's just a 5-minute walk from there and then you can also see the Charleston Battery!
Notebook fans! This is where Cole and I got engaged - and also the place where the infamous "boat" scene was shot from The Notebook! There won't be any swans, but you can take a boat out on the water! Best part is there likely won't be any mosquitos since it will still be too early in the season! And don't be scared about the gators - they do a great job of keeping them away from the tourists.
The address we've listed is for a great parking lot right by Coconut Joe's - a waterfront restaurant right in Isle of Palms. So if you're looking to do a beach day while you're in Charleston we recommend going here! Lots of people also go to Folly Beach, but driving there can be quite tricky as there's one single-lane road in and out of there, and very little parking. As for the other beach in town, Sullivan's Island, there is a very strong current so they typically have rules about not getting too close to the water - that also comes with high winds and strict parking laws. Long story short, Isle of Palms (IOP for short) is where it's at!
One of our favorite places to go! This is located on Shem Creek, a VERY popular place for locals. It's right on the water and because of all the shrimp boats there are always dolphins and pelicans to be spotted. Pro tip: if you park in the parking lot (not the garage) close by, wait until you get up to the restaurant because they have a discount code so you don't have to pay! Other great spots in this area are: Tavern & Table (nicer dining but not swanky), Saltwater Cowboys (as it sounds - good place if you're looking for a party), and Reds (bar food and good vibes - right next door to Saltwater Cowboys but not as much of a young crowd).
