Setting: a rowdy shuttle bus in Kutztown going from KU campus to the Cliffs (a student housing complex of small town homes near the university we both went to). Kate was taking 2 boxes of left over donuts to a friends house party after a closing shift at the local Dunkin Donuts. She offered one box to other students on the shuttle whom she didn’t know- passing out nearly the entire box. About one year later she would learn one of those was offered to (and turned down by) Tim Jany. It is rumored Tim thought about her over the summer break- wondering “Who was that cute girl with the donuts?”.

Kate had moved into the Cliffs after deciding to transition to off-campus housing for her junior year. A close friend who lived up the street mentioned a guy she knew from the prior year who happened to move in next to her and insisted on introducing them to each other.

After a few flirty chats- Tim literally fell onto Kate outside of a party. She felt like this might be the plot of a movie.

After going home for Winter break, Tim decided to finally ask Kate out on a first date. They went to the movies- Tim’s pick Blair Witch. They got candy- Kate’s pick Reese’s Pieces.

After building their life together, adopting a few pets, and surviving being locked down together through 2020, Tim finally proposed while on a trip in Maui, HI.

Ready to continue their life together the couple purchased a beautiful home and have since settled in and are “enjoying the joys of homeownership”.
