Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is the bus and train provider for the Washington, DC area. Uber and Lyft are ride share applications that connect drivers to you after you put in your destination using your phones gps to identify starting point. Uber and Lyft are calculated cost wise by duration and distance with minimum fare costs. It is much easier to get a ride in the city and out of the city than from say Falls Church to Washington, DC.
