FAQs

Where can I find Traditional attire?

We highly recommend that guests dress in the following colors: Black, Bronze/Brown, or Blush. The dress code is traditional Yoruba or cocktail attire. Please check out our "Guest Attire" tab for more information or click "View" below to see our attire guide.

Will there be someone to tie my Gele?

Yes! There will be an onsite professional stylist early on in the event and will tie your gele for $25.

I can only attend the Traditional, where should I stay?

Wednesday/Thursday - Friday: The Tillary Hotel / ACE Hotel (Brooklyn, NY)

I can only attend the white wedding, where should I stay?

Friday/Saturday - Sunday: The Hyatt Regency Long Island Hotel (St. James, NY) This way you can safely drink and party with easy transport back to the hotel.

How should I book hotels if I am attending both?

Option A (most recommended for those flying in): Wednesday/Thursday - Friday: The Tillary Hotel / ACE Hotel (Brooklyn, NY) Friday - Sunday: The Hyatt Regency Hotel (St. James, NY) Option B Wednesday/Thursday - Saturday: The Tillary Hotel / ACE Hotel (Brooklyn, NY) Saturday - Sunday: The Hyatt Regency Long Island Hotel (St. James, NY)

What is the dress code?

Dress to impress! White Wedding: Black tie, this means floor length dresses or gowns, tuxedos, and suits. Traditional: The attire is any cultural traditional wear or cocktail attire. We encourage Nigerian cultural attire. For the women that would include having a Gele -- a Nigerian headwrap -- and an "Iro and Buba" or an "Aso Ebi". For the men, this would include looking for a Nigerian "Agbada" or "Senator" outfit.

Can I bring my kids?

While we love your little ones, this is strictly an adults-only occasion. There are no exceptions unless explicitly stated on personalized invitations.

Can I bring a guest?

In order to keep our wedding as intimate as possible, only the guest formally invited on your wedding invitation will be accommodated. If you received a plus one they will appear when you RSVP.

Would you recommend an Airbnb?

Because of the laws in New York City, Airbnbs have become a scarcer commodity and have also increased considerably in price. You are free to search, but we want to emphasize we have conducted a thorough search to get you the best blend of price and location. Similarly, you are also welcome to find another hotel to stay, but know that the room blocks we have will provide the smoothest transportation to and from our venues.

How do I get from the Long Island hotel to the White wedding venue?

There will be a shuttle provided on Saturday from the Hyatt Regency Long Island Hotel to our venue at Flowerfield Celebrations. It will depart from the hotel by 5:00PM and return to the Hyatt Regency at the end of the night.

How should I prepare for the traditional?

This will be a very lively celebration. Make sure to bring your best dance moves to the event. As well, Nigerian celebrations generally feature several dollar bills being "sprayed" on the Bride and Groom to celebrate them. Make sure to bring several single dollar bills so you can enjoy the festivities!
