We met at Alfred University and admired each other from afar. It wasn't until the summer after Lauren's first year and Peyton's third year that they met officially. Peyton had gotten Lauren's number from a mutual friend and invited her on a hike in the Adirondacks. Lauren drove 6 hours round trip for the day for our first date. During our date, we talked, laughed, sang, sat in silence and neither of us wanted the day to end. It's these little things that makes us so happy, even on our bad days.
We were three weeks into our 5 month cross country van trip and were living each day spontaneously. We made our way into Maine and our original overnight plans fell through, so Lauren scrambled to find a campsite to stay in for the night. We got lucky enough to get an oceanfront campsite that someone had cancelled shortly before. The next day, we were going into Acadia National Park to hike, go to the beach, and go into Bar Harbor. By the time we got back to our campsite, Lauren was focused on getting things cleaned up and having a quiet night. While she was shuffling through the van, she turned around and Peyton was on his knee and it was the easiest decision either of us has ever made.
