Come drink some delicious beer and take a tour at Allagash! Portland is known for taking its beer very seriously and is home to over 12 breweries, as well as many bars and pubs to drink your fill. Slange var!
The Maine coast is jam packed with idyllic lighthouses, but a trip to Portland is not complete without a visit to Portland Head Light. For amazing pictures, lobster rolls, and a nice stroll in Fort Williams park, this is the place to be!
Take the ferry to one of the many Casco Bay Islands, each with its own personality! It's an inexpensive way to get on the water and away from the busy city. They can drop you off at a quiet island beach, or go for a long sunset cruise. They do it all!
Another great way to get out on the water (there's a lot of water in Portland) is to rent a kayak or paddle board. Just do it. It's cheap, it's fun, it's summer.
Since Portland is on a peninsula, there is no better way to see the city than on a bike! Cyclemania and Gorham Bike and Ski both do bike rentals (located downtown). Take your time cruising along the waterfront and, if you're feeling ambitious, you can cross the bridge to South Portland and get on the greenbelt bike path (lighthouses included!)
The amount of food options in Portland is almost overwhelming. Almost. From high class dining to amazing food trucks to classic Maine seafood, the city has something for everyone!
