Matt proposed to Annie as they were cutting down their Christmas tree, an annual tradition, at The Olde Christmas Tree Farm in Cape Elizabeth, ME. Matt was already on one knee when he stopped mid-sawing. As the tree was still standing, Annie couldn’t figure out why he’d stopped and thought he’d gotten the saw stuck. To her surprise he was actually fumbling with his jacket pocket and pulled out a ring box. Annie was in shock that it was *finally* happening and Matt was so nervous, neither of them remember exactly what Matt said, except for “I want to spend the rest of my life with you”. Needless to say, the answer was a resounding yes that could be heard across the hills of the tree farm. Right afterwards Annie asked one of the teenage boys working at the farm to take their picture, exclaiming that they had just gotten engaged. While the young man was entirely unenthusiastic he gladly took the photo that became their save the date and marked their first picture together as an engaged couple.
