We met online on an app called "MeetMe" at around June of 2013. Austin was a kind and shy guy who made a sincere effort to get to know me (Amanda). His use of old fashioned emojis caught my attention because he always knew the funniest ways to use them. After about two months of texting and Skype, we finally decided to meet in person at Plaza Bonita mall, but not without Austin going through a thorough interrogation from my parents. From there we had multiple mall dates, documenting almost every one of them with photobooth pictures. By our 4th date, on August 30th of 2013, Austin asked me if I wanted to see a magic trick and told me to hold out my hand, palm up. So I did, and he ended up putting his on top of mine, interlocked our fingers and closed his hand on mine. He then asked if I would be his girlfriend, and of course, I said yes!

On the 10 year anniversary of when we first became a couple, Austin had a big plan. Just 2 weeks before, Austin had asked my parents for my hand in marriage. Little did Austin and I know, God had other plans for our engagement. Multiple mishaps resulted in a delayed proposal. I was sad to not get a proposal on our 10 year anniversary, and little did I know, so was he. The next day, Austin told me he had a reservation at another restaurant as an extention of our 10 year anniversary. Later that day, I got ready for our fancy dinner. Austin picked me up and immediately blindfolded me saying he didn't want me to recognize the restaurant before we got there. I believed him entirely, clueless me didn't question anything one bit on the drive and walk to our destination, all the way up to the point when he told me to take off the blindfold... There he was, on one knee and after the words "Will you marry me?" came from his mouth, I was sobbing with joy and cried out a "Yes!". We were engaged! It was all worth the wait, despite all the delays. God's timing was the perfect timing, He had the perfect sunset planned for our special moment, and we are both thankful for it.
