Yellowstone became the worlds first national park in 1872. It is about an hour and a half away from Jackson (just on the other side of Grand Teton National Park). It sits atop a volcanic hot spot with many geysers and hot springs as well as an abundance of wildlife. We highly recommend checking out this park if you've got time.
This is the best place to see wild, free range Bison herds in Grand Teton National Park. It also has amazing views and the two famous Moulton Barns. It's not a heavily advertised road, just a small brown sign off the main road going into Jackson.
In 12 minutes, the tram takes you to the summit of Rendezvous mountain. On a clear day, the tram affords views of the Gros Ventre Range, Snake River Valley, Grand Teton National Park, and the summit of Grand Teton (the highest peak in the Teton range) and the expanse of the Jackson Hole Valley.

The annual Elkfest is May 20th and 21st. Elkfest includes an antler auction, elk viewing at the Elk Refuge, and a chili cook off on Sunday! From May 21st-30th you can see the Mountain Man Rendezvous and Traders' Row featuring crafters of authentic earth-made wares. Enjoy Traders' Row, Candy Cannon, Bow & Arrow Competition, Hawk & Knife Competition, and Atlatal Competition at the Teton Country Fairgrounds.
The bulk of Jackson's shops, restaurants, and bars are located around Town Square. This is also the home of the famous antler arches.
