Built in 1912, the Frankfort North Breakwater Lighthouse is another interesting landmark. A symbol of the area’s maritime heritage, the steel structure, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was originally located on the north pier before being relocated to its current location. While visitors can visit the grounds and take photos of the lighthouse, they are not able to access the tower. History buffs often enjoy exploring the Point Betsie Lighthouse, which dates back to 1858. Translated from the Native American language used by the Three Bees Tribal Council, the landmark’s name means “Saw Beak Point,” a reference to the sawbill ducks in Lake Michigan. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is breathtaking attraction north of Frankfort, with expansive slopes of pale white sand that reach 450 feet high. It’s been hailed as one of the most beautiful spots in the country, owing to the pristine dunes, sweeping landscape scenery, and magnificent glacial formations. During summer, throngs of people come here to camp and take in the ambiance and views. There are three main grounds to choose from: D.H. Day Campground, Platte River Campground, and Manitou Island campgrounds. The last one is located on one of the islands just a few miles from the shores of Sleeping Bear Dunes—the perfect basecamp for thrilling adventures out in the water.
Leland Michigan, located in the northwest of the Leelanau Peninsula is one of our favorite vacation spots in Michigan. It is such a unique place to go in Michigan. It's an active fishing village with picturesque fishing shanties, iconic nets can be seen drying on racks and lots of docked fishing boats as just begging for creative photography.

Housed in a historic Victorian house that dates back to 1895, the eponymous space showcases the work of the award-winning, self-taught artist and also offers a few original gifts such as calendars and note cards for purchase.
