We met in the classic millennial way, through a dating app. We chatted for a few weeks before finally deciding to meet. Kaelin wasn't sure if she was ready for something serious and famously tried to deter Patrick by saying "You seem like the type of guy who will text me good morning and I'm not sure I'm ready for that". Well, spoiler alert, he proceeded to text her good morning and she loved it. Early on, Patrick's car got towed at Kaelin's apartment after her swearing it was fine to park there. She offered to pay for the tow, and he said, how about dinner instead? From that dinner forward, we'd always schedule the next date before the current one ended. We had a quirky saying, "Don't swipe left!" in honor of our dating app connection. The true test came when we decided to introduce the dogs. Keiko, Kaelin's pup, is notoriously picky when it comes to other dogs. Meanwhile, Patrick had Bailey and Baxter. Bailey loves anyone and any dog she meets, while Baxter really shows that 10% Chihuahua. Fortunately, with minor drama, their meeting went off without a hitch. The three pups became inseparable and so did we. From Cique du Soleil concerts to Renaissance Fairs and many, many dog walks in between, we grew our relationship. During covid, we hunkered down and played endless board games, went on hikes, and tried many new hobbies. As the pandemic lifted, we both felt like it was time for a change. Patrick left the Navy and Kaelin's work continued to be virtual. We chose to move to Louisville, KY to be closer to both our families and our friends. We bought a house, adopted a cat "Mr. Po", and have begun building our lives here. Patrick popped the question in the living room of our house over some apple cider donuts (Kaelin's favorite) and surrounded by our pups. It was "absolutely perfect", according to Kaelin. Now we are so thrilled to make it official and continue building our lives as husband and wife!
