♡ Allie and Pat met working for Vail Resorts in 2017. Pat ran a call center full of travel agents ready to land their next big sale. Allie was one of those agents. Onboarding agents tour the rental properties of Vail and Beaver Creek before answering calls. On one occasion in December, the managers cooked dinner and held a social hour for the agents. As Pat and a few others put together spaghetti, Allie will never forget one of her co-agents looking at Pat, turning to her, and saying, "He looks Norwegian." Allie thought, "Dang, that's hot". So, you can only imagine her disappointment to find out that not only was he lacking a foreign accent, his accent was thick...a thick, Jersey accent. Despite their origins (and Allie didn't care, I was only kidding), they chatted, and smiled. They learned that they both love snow sports, were new to Colorado, and live over an hour apart. And then they went on their way. Pat went home and told his roommate about Allie. He wasn't sure how he was going to do it, but he wanted to get to know her more...without overstepping any work-related boundaries, of course. Because the agents were spread out along the front range of Colorado, it was common to get together for team-building activities (aka. happy hours). Fast forward to a happy hour in Denver one chilly January evening, Allie encouraged her coworkers to stick around after to see her friend's band play down the street. Pat and a few others obliged, and they strolled down to Herman's Hideaway to watch Whiskey Starship take the stage. It was over shots of whiskey, pints of beer, and blaring rock n' roll that they realized they could get along pretty well. Again, they went their separate ways. The next day, in between sales calls, Allie gets an email: How are you feeling? Can I have your number? I'm sure it was the loud music that prevented the love birds from exchanging numbers the night before. They scheduled a ski date. Pat was pleasantly surprised to see that a front-ranger from Indiana could keep up with him on the mountain, and the rest... is history!
