Travel Note
These are the two best options: 1. Albuquerque Airport 2. La Plata Airport (Durango) Recommendation: We recommend flying into ABQ as it is cheaper and has far more rental cars which will allow you to have a lot more freedom/autonomy during your stay.
Flight
- most affordable option - larger availability of rental cars - 3.5 hours from Durango, but you can explore the southwest at your liesure, the whole area is very scenic
Flight
- expensive but more convenient - rental cars available at airport upon arrival - or you may call one of the following for shuttle service: Durango Taxi, Animas Transportation, and Buck Horn Limousine
Travel Note
For those who are feeling adventurous or are already in the area, you can always drive to Durango. The surrounding landscape is incredible and definitely worth exploring. Driving Distances Albuquerque: 3.5 hours Denver: 6.5 hours Los Angeles: 12 hours Minneapolis: 19 hours Ohio: ~22 hours

This hotel is a little more expensive but rooms are larger and a little nicer. The location is right on the Animas River.
