Despite living 7 minutes away from one another in West Palm Beach, FL, Jessica and Jason may have never met without the intervention of their mutual friend, Megan Driggers. Jessica and Megan met while they were both majoring in electrical engineering at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL. After graduation, Megan accepted a position at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Panama City Beach, FL. A few months later, Jason would join the same department as Megan and the two became fast friends. In late 2019, Megan realized Jason and Jessica would be a perfect match, and she began dropping hints to the two of them. Much to Megan’s dismay, Jessica was uninterested, and rejected her matchmaking attempts. In March of 2020, as the first rounds of quarantining began, Jason texted Jessica. They texted back and forth for a few weeks, but again, Jessica was uninterested. It wasn’t until Jessica made a trip to visit Megan in Panama City Beach in May of 2020 that she and Jason met in person. After a night of card games with work friends had ended, the two continued talking until the early hours of the morning. They continued their conversation the next morning over breakfast and a trip to Rosemary Beach, FL (with Megan chaperoning). The very next weekend, Jason drove the 6 hour long drive to Orlando for their first date at Cherie Down Park in Titusville, FL, for the launch of SpaceX’s Crew Dragon 2 from Kennedy Space Center. After meeting each other’s families, a Thanksgiving road trip to the US Space and Rocket Museum in Huntsville, thousands of miles driven between Panama City Beach and Orlando, dozens of DG Doughnuts, and too many FaceTime calls to count, Jessica and Jason are making the next step of becoming husband and wife.
