Setup by mutual friends based on common interests of loving Jesus and dancing, Kenyon and Nicole’s love story began on Valentine’s Day in 2019. In true romantic fashion, their blind date consisted of beer and pizza. Kenyon was drawn to Nicole’s bubbly personality and affection for ranch dressing, while Nicole couldn’t resist Kenyon’s sense of humor and conversational nature. Kenyon got Nicole’s number the next day (after being too shy to ask during the date), and the rest was history. Despite Kenyon being in busy season and Nicole working extra shifts at the hospital, the two grew closer through long walks along the Trinity trails, attending each other’s churches, attempts at cooking dinner, watching Mamma Mia, and playing endless amounts of fetch with Nicole’s dog and Kenyon’s new best friend, Sophie. Six months later, after rehearsing in his head multiple times, Kenyon built up the courage to tell Nicole he loved her. Much to Kenyon's surprise, after Nicole said it back, she informed him he had already said it previously a month ago during a trip to float the river in Austin – a claim that Kenyon disputes to this day! Their relationship grew as they passed the test of multiple road trips through Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Florida, and surviving a couple OU vs TCU games. Eventually, they expressed their desire to take the next step and get engaged by the end of 2020. After months of planning, quarantining due to COVID, and several visits with a jeweler, Kenyon surprised Nicole with a proposal in his decorated backyard with both sets of their parents looking on, unknown to Nicole, inside the home. Neither of them remembers what was said while Kenyon presented the ring, but it’s now on Nicole’s finger and the two are happily engaged! We are so looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together, and can’t wait to celebrate our marriage on New Year’s Eve with our favorite people!
