Question

What currency does Portugal use?

Answer

While things are generally a little less pricey than other European countries, Portugal still uses the euro. It can be smart to order some euros from your bank about 2 weeks before departure so that you have cash on hand before arrival. If not, no worries! You’ll be able to pull-out euros at any ATM or convert dollars at the airport. Make sure your credit card knows of your travels!

Question

Is Portugal safe?

Answer

Yes! Portugal is among the safest European countries and has much less crime per capita than the United States. Cascais-Estoril in particular rate “very low” in crime and very high for night-walking safety. As always, it’s good to be aware of your surroundings and careful of theft and pickpocketing n crowded areas.
