Goose Rocks Beach is arguably the most scenic beach in Kennebunkport, located a few miles from the center of town in a more secluded and residential area beyond Cape Porpoise. Buy a parking pass at the general store and enjoy a day relaxing on the beach! The Tides Beach Club is a great spot to enjoy a snack, drink, or meal.
Kennebunkport was also the summer home of former President George H.W. Bush, and his family continues to reside at Walkers Point. The Bush family has a private estate on Walker's Point, built in the early 1900s. The property juts out into the Atlantic Ocean, and visitors can climb on nearby rocks for photographs and scenic views. If you are staying at Nonantum, hop on their complimentary bikes to there!
A great city worth exploring and is about 30 minutes from our wedding venue. Portland is a classic New England city but also has a funky, artsy culture, it has a little bit of everything. Also, home of some great lobster rolls!
Ogunquit is the home of The Marginal Way, a walk along the ocean with incredible views of the water and coastal homes.
Acadia National Park is a beautiful park with miles of driving and hiking paths including some of the highest points along the Atlantic coast. A pass for one vehicle is $30 and can be bought in advance on the National Park service website. This is a 3.5 hour drive from the Nonantum but if you are coming to Maine and love to visit national parks or hike then it is worth the trip! If you go, the town of Bar Harbor is a beautiful place to stay.
Portsmouth is small city on the water on the border of New Hampshire and Maine and would be a great place to stop if you are driving from Boston. It is filled with several shops, bars, and restaurants. The town has historic, New England architecture and is nice to visit even if you just want to walk around.
Where our love story began! Our favorite historic city on the seacoast of Massachusetts. There are endless things to do for everyone. The Freedom Trail brings you to all of Boston’s historic locations. Newbury Street is great for shopping. The Boston Commons and Gardens for a stroll in the park. There’s also the Seaport for a nice walk along the water or Fenway Park for a game. As for food, our top recommendations include Tatte Bakery in Beacon Hill, Buttermilk & Bourbon in Back Bay, Lucca in the North End, and Legal Harborside in the Seaport.
