Caterpillar Visitors Center
This isn't your average museum! Your visit begins with a virtual ride in the bed of a massive two-and-a-half story Cat 797F Mining Truck. Learn how Caterpillar's story began as two companies came together to build Caterpillar on the foundation of innovation and customer focus. Unleash your inner engineer as you design your very own Cat machine. Test your skills on a simulator to see first-hand what it's like to operate equipment the way our operators do, and no visit is complete without climbing in a track-type tractor. ADMISSION Tickets are available at the ticket counter. General admission: $7 Seniors (55+): $6 Veterans and active military: $6 Children (12 and under): Free (limit of 4 children per 1 adult ticket. Must be accompanied by an adult.) Group rate (25 or more): $6 For Caterpillar employee and retiree tickets, please present your ID at the ticket counter.
RiverFront
The Peoria RiverFront is one of Illinois' oldest and most exciting regions, alive with adventure and fun for all. Enjoy arts, entertainment, and eateries in a friendly, vibrant urban environment. Stop by, have lunch at one of the great restaurants, explore the Peoria Riverfront Museum and Caterpillar Visitors Center, walk the river trail, and enjoy a wide variety of live music and entertainment every weekend! Free 2-hour parking is available in all RiverFront lots. Parking meters are available for those wishing to stay longer than 2 hours. And of course, parking after 5 PM and on weekends is always FREE!
Three Sisters Park - Spider Hill
Spider Hill Haunted Attractions is in its 25th year of production. Open every Friday and Saturday in October. Gates open at 6 pm for ticket sales, and the scares start at 7 pm. Tickets are sold until 11 pm. The Shoppes at Grand Prairie
lifestyle center and is Peoria, IL’s newest and most unique retail destination. Anchored by Dick’s Sporting Goods, Marshall’s and HomeGoods, the tenant mix includes more than 30 specialty stores and restaurants, many of which are exclusive to the Peoria market. Grand View Drive
Grandview Drive is a drive and park that offers scenic views of the Illinois River while walking, biking, or hiking one of the many beautiful trails. Grand View Drive is a 2.52 mile meandering pleasure driveway constructed in 1903. The “world’s most beautiful drive,” as President Theodore Roosevelt referred to it in a visit to Peoria in 1910, offers visitors numerous panoramic scenic views of the Illinois River Valley and the chance to view many historic and remarkable homes lining it. The drive is especially beautiful in autumn, with the ever-changing colors of fall leaves.
Forest Park Nature Center
Do you enjoy bird watching or hiking? Forest Park Nature Center is for you! Forest Park Nature Center offers seven miles of trails for hiking and nature enjoyment and is home to a gift shop that carries bird feeding and hiking necessities. Interested in learning more about nature and all that it entails? Forest Park Nature Center has classes for adults and children alike, covering topics from bats to bugs and everything in between. Guided hiking tours are also available.
