In the summer of 2013, when Nathan and Gabrielle first laid eyes on each other, little did they know their lighthearted, joking interaction would lead them to the lives they live now. Their friendship grew throughout the fall as they sat together at football games on brisk nights cheering on friends and creating a deep bond. It didn’t take long for them to begin communicating on a daily basis; in fact, since November of that year they have never missed a day of good mornings and goodnights. In December they went on their first date, which, like any young love, was awkward. However, it was the first of many to come, and one that has never been forgotten. Surprisingly, the proposal was not the first time Nathan got down on one knee in the sake of their love. Nathan asked Gabrielle to be his girlfriend on January 9th, 2014 by getting on one knee after she had just played an intense game of basketball in Lanesboro (thankfully, Gabrielle was not nearly as in need of a shower the second time around). And thus began the many adventures that awaited the couple. Now, if you’re reading this, it probably means you will be sharing a dance on April 22nd, 2023 with Gabrielle and Nathan, and let me tell you, they are seasoned pros at dances! As a couple, they have attended 4 winter dances, 4 proms, 2 homecoming dances, and even 2 benefit dances in college, so they have torn up plenty of dance floors and can’t wait to do the same with you! Gabrielle and Nathan knew well before they graduated high school that they were going to have to try the whole long-distance thing while attending college, but they were determined to make it work. So much so that Nathan presented a promise ring to Gabrielle well before they parted ways. This ring came with a promise to communicate and not give up on each other while they were apart. They knew that this day of celebration, their wedding day, was in their future though they recognized the hard work and attention they would have to continue to commit to each other and their relationship. This determined mindset was necessary to make it through the 426 miles between them, especially with only seeing each other every few months. The moments they were able to spend together while in college are some of their favorite memories. Then the pandemic hit and while Gabrielle was able to finish her degree as planned (except virtually), Nathan had to stay an extra year at school to complete his flight courses. So a 5th year of long distance was necessary. This was a difficult turn of events as they had been counting down the days until they could be together again, but they made sure to remind themselves that everything happens for a reason. In June 2021, Nathan finished his degree and finally moved back to Lanesboro. Just a month later Nathan and Gabrielle moved into an apartment, a place they together call home. Finally, they were together, in the exact same place, for the first time in their lives. With this came a realization that every setback they had faced so far had happened for a reason. As the next 8 months passed, they had many conversations about their plans for the future and realized how perfectly everything was lining up for them and what they wanted as a couple. Finally on April 9th, Nathan proposed on the boardwalk in Duluth overlooking Lake Superior. Their excitement to celebrate their relationship with you is unmatched.
