In spring of 2016, Nat’s best friend Abby invited her to a party at a mutual friend’s place to watch the Presidential primary debates, and that place happened to be Ben and his roommates’ apartment. By coincidence, Abby's brother Kyle had reconnected with Ben from playing music together years prior, and Kyle brought Ben to Nat’s apartment at the time to introduce them. Ben felt drawn to Nat then and invited her to the debate watch party. Afterwards, Nat was struck by Ben's warmth and humor, and they began texting constantly. Those texts turned into visiting each other after work or class and going on long drives together, simply listening to music and talking. Sometimes they would drive for hours showing each other the music that meant most to them. Exchanging art together, whether it was Nat showing Ben niche horror films or Ben introducing her to prog rock, became a sacred source of connection that continues to this day. By May of 2016, Nat and Ben were incredibly close friends. By July, they were fully in love, and in late August, Nat decided to move into Ben's new apartment, just to see if it would work out. Eight years, 3 apartments, triumphs and hardships, a pandemic, and two cats later, and Nat and Ben have only grown deeper in love, friendship, and understanding of each other. They still go on long drives together and are the best road trip partners they know, and they revel in art, film, and music whenever they can. They could not imagine life any other way, and they are so excited to marry each other surrounded by the people they love most. They owe a special thanks to Kyle and Abby Woods.
