Matt and Brooke met when studying at the University of Hartford through a mutual friend. The mutual friend invited them and a few friends to go to McDonald’s and the rest was history. From there, they became friends. Matt would often drive Brooke home and back to school because they lived 20 minutes away from each other. They grew close and about a month later Matt asked Brooke to be his girlfriend.
Matt and Brooke had their first date at Fenway Park. Four years later, Matt would ask Brooke to marry him at Fenway Park. The Red Sox beat the Yankees 6-3, but they felt like the real winners.
Matt had been planning for over 6 months on how to create the perfect proposal for Brooke. Matt spent countless days coordinating with the Red Sox Organization on just how to perfect the proposal. Matt spent weeks denying any proposal would be happening this summer to throw her off his trail; little did Brooke know that on August 27th her life would change forever. On the day of the proposal, Matt had secretly put family members from both sides across the ballpark. Not only was the proposal executed flawlessly, but it included a surprise live TV interview with NESN's Tom Caron, engagement photos on the field, a vegetarian restaurant, and a Seaport hotel experience! The proposal was seen by family and friends all over the map who were watching the game and set the stage for their future wedding and life together!
