For the safety of all of our guests, especially our high-risk guests, we ask that everyone: 1. Get a negative COVID test result within 24 hours or as close as possible to the event, regardless of vaccine status - At-home tests are convenient and a good option if you're unable to get a PCR or rapid antigen test. That said, PCR is our preference due to increased accuracy for omicron. Advanced appointments may be necessary. 2. Take extra precautions to limit potential exposure in the days leading up to the event 3. Celebrate with us at another time if you: - Have any COVID symptoms, even if you tested negative in the days leading up to the event. - Are notified of a close contact with someone who has tested positive, or has developed symptoms. - If you test positive for COVID.
- The barn at the Old Saco Inn is new and has a good ventilation system. It has a capacity of more than 250 people, and we are expecting about 110 guests -- ~40% capacity with ample space to socially distance. - For the ceremony, you can choose to sit upfront or make full use of the barn - you could even get a bird's eye view from the expansive balcony above! - At the reception, we will have a bar and passed hors d'oeuvres downstairs. You can lounge on couches upstairs or, if you dress VERY warmly, make use of the outside patio. - At dinner, we will have 6-8 people at each table, with tables spread out and assigned by household / association as much as possible. - We cannot guarantee social distancing on the dance floor at the after party at the pub.
Their first meeting was too long ago to remember. Mutual friendships meant that Jess and Sam would meet occasionally over the years, and while they admired each other from afar, it finally took a heated debate about nautical jargon to turn the tide for the couple. At a holiday party in 2019, Jess struck up a conversation with Sam, quizzing him about boat terminology (it should be noted that this was a thinly veiled attempt on Jess’s part to flirt and show how smart she is). Little did she know, Sam's decade of experience working on submarines made him somewhat of an expert on the topic. Ever the Maine girl, Jess challenged, “What’s the name of the back of the boat?” and he correctly answered “Stern”. She swooned. After having a crush on Jess for a while, Sam worked up the courage to ask her out. To his delight she said yes. Things were going well on their first date; Jess was impressed by his choice of restaurant, and Sam was impressed with Jess's enthusiasm over food. A misguided compliment from Sam, "Wow, you're a good eater!" could have spelled disaster; instead, it’s become an inside joke that has haunted Sam ever since. A couple of months and several dates later, the world shut down. During a time of extreme uncertainty for everyone, one thing was certain: Jess and Sam were going to spend a lot of time together. They went from seeing each other once a week to spending nearly every day together. And they liked it that way. When Jess bought a home in South Portland, Sam didn’t hesitate to sell his house in Kittery and move all of his houseplants to Kelley Street. Love In the Time of Quarantine was the ultimate test – and their love and partnership grew stronger. On Valentine's Day, 2021, Sam told Jess that she was the one, which she reaffirmed. The intervening year has been full of joy, challenges, triumphs, and compromises as they plan life together. Jess and Sam can’t wait to celebrate their love and commitment to one another with friends and family.
