Tiffany’s Side: Nick and I first met at a scavenger hunt put together by the lovely kids of Eltingville. I originally went to fill in one of my friend’s spots who was on vacation. Little did I know, that one decision would decide the rest of my life! My first impression of Nick at the scavenger hunt was that he was hilarious (he was running down Richmond Avenue with his shirt over his head) and super cute. We didn’t speak much, but I thought he had a great personality. The next day, I received a text from my friend saying Nick was asking her about me! I couldn’t believe it! But the best part? We became friends on Facebook immediately and first exhanged phone numbers through a “truth is” status (#tbt). So romantic, right? I think it was totally meant to be! Nick’s Side: Tiff and I met at a scavenger hunt put together by mutual friends of ours the summer going into junior year of high school. We were on different teams but when everyone met in the P.S. 42 school yard before starting she immediately caught my eyes with her blue eyes and green suspenders on. Being a shy 16 year old kid when it came to girls, I couldn't build up the courage to go over to her or one of the girls I knew on her team. The following day I reached out to one of her friends asking who that cute girl with the green suspenders was. Who knew by me doing this I would be finding my future wife and forever best friend.
Told by Nick: There were many parts to this process. First was finding the perfect ring- I didn't know ANYTHING about rings and what I should be looking for. After looking at many different rings, I finally found THE ONE! Fast forward a couple months of hiding the ring and all my plans from Tiff. FYI surprising Tiff is nearly impossible so this took a lot of planning and secrecy. My plan was to propose while on our cruise to Bermuda. I rented a boat for our first day there, and this is where I would ask Tiff to marry me. But first I had to figure out how to tell her I had this excursion planned for the 2 of us without her getting suspicious. At first she was shocked, then worried that her family would be mad that we were leaving them (they knew the whole plan!). The day of, I gave the taxi driver the wrong address on the way there! Tiff was trying to show me the pretty views of Bermuda but I was out of it- I was barely answering and starting to freak out just a little. Luckily, I had an email on my phone with the correct location, but I couldn't have Tiff see this because it would be too suspicious... she saw I was reading something and asked "What are you reading?" I didn't know what to say, so I said nothing at all and just looked out the window (very smooth, I know). Fast forward to the boat, I wanted to make sure we captured this on video and pictures so I asked Tiff to give her phone to one of the crew members to take pictures throughout the day. She thought that was mean and we shouldn't do it... GREAT IDEA TIFF! So I snuck to the back of the boat to get Tiff "water" and told the crew members I was going to propose now. I had the blue box in my hand while walking to the front of the boat and I am greeted by two brilliant questions by my future wife. First question, "What are you holding?" A box Tiff. Second question, as she notices what is about to happen, "Are you serious?" Nah it's just a joke. Luckily she said YES! Needless to say 7/31/19 was a perfect day!
