Our Love Story

It all started on the slopes of Colorado. Mitch was invited by his good buddy, Mark Davidson, to join him, his wife Maggie, and her crazy nursing friends (including Allie) on a ski trip to Arapahoe Basin for the weekend. Mitch having never skied A-Basin, willingly agreed! Being in the middle of the pandemic, Allie and her friends weren’t so sure about the new comer joining them but were reassured by his vaccination status. Mitch, having arrived earlier to the mountain house, was pleasantly surprised by “Allie’s warming presence and everyone’s excitement to see her when she arrived.” Allie, first being distracted by the new guys camouflage and the fact Mark and him were matching, “noticed his beautiful eyes and quiet/easy-going demeanor.” After a year of many attempts, Maggie and Mark finally got the two to meet. Allie and Mitch throughout the weekend started to realize that their friends had been right in the fact that the two were very similar. For instance, their love for the board game Settlers of Catan, traveling, skiing (including owning the exact same pair of skis), having type-A personalities, and similar goals in life to name a few. After a couple of months and another ski trip, Mitch realized that he couldn’t let this one go and insisted on making a trip to Denver just to see Allie. After a dinner of amazing sushi and saki, the two began the journey of long distance dating. After 10 months of long distance dating, many camping trips with Allie’s nursing crew, Hawaii, Mexico, and flights back and forth between Boise and Denver, Allie and Mitch decided that they would take the leap and have Allie move to Boise as a travel nurse. As expected, the couple continued their traveling adventures, Allie started grad school, they bought a boat and became “boat people,” and life in the same city flew by! Mitch finally realized that he needed to do the big gesture and what better way than to propose in the mountains of Colorado, where it all began with the best friends who introduced them, Maggie and Mark. On a rainy, fall day in September, the four decided to hike up Booth Falls in Vail, CO and get a beautiful view of the changing leaves. Just when they reached the top and Mitch thought it would start down pouring, the sun came out and Mitch got down on one knee. Allie, completely surprised, said “Yes!” and they popped champagne and celebrated on top of the mountain, looking out at the beautiful view, with the best of friends!
