Question

When should I book my accommodations?

Answer

We recommend booking as soon as possible since the Street Parade music festival is taking place the day before our wedding, which brings in tourists from far and wide. The influx of tourists may have an impact on accommodation availability.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the wedding venue?

Answer

We are organizing a shuttle service for our out-of-town guests that will be departing from a central meeting point in downtown Zurich. More information to follow... Planning to make your own way? An Uber from downtown Zurich (4 seats) runs about 70 swiss francs. Have a car? There is plenty of parking at the wedding venue.

Question

What COVID-19 protocols will be followed? How do I have to prepare myself?

Answer

The situation in Zurich today is very similar to many cities around the world. There are no covid-19 restrictions imposed by the governments of Switzerland or the canton of Zurich. Most airlines will require proof that passengers are fully vaccinated (two doses). Wearing masks is not mandatory anywhere but is still encouraged. No covid-19 certificates are required to enter venues, bars and restaurants. Question

When should we arrive at the venue on Sunday, August 14?

Answer

Please arrive at 4:30 PM on Sunday. Our wedding ceremony will start at 5:00 PM.

Question

When do you suggest we arrive in Switzerland? Is jet lag going to be an issue?

Answer

Whenever you decide to arrive, we are so excited, grateful, and honoured that you are making the trip to celebrate with us. This is our recommendation regarding jet lag: Having travelled back and forth between Canada and Switzerland a lot during our relationship, we have gained some experience. Travelling east is the toughest. If you are sensitive to jet lag, you might want to give yourself a day or two prior to the wedding to acclimate to the time difference. This way, jet lag won't interfere with the fun you intend to have on the wedding night!

Question

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our wedding ceremony and reception is outdoors, but our reception will be under a tent.

Question

What is the weather like this time of year?

Answer

July and August are the warmest months of the year in Switzerland. For our guests from North America, temperatures are very comparable to your summers. However, rain is always a possibility and best to be prepared for that. Our wedding takes place outdoors and under a tent. Please dress appropriately.

Question

Is there parking available at Landgasthof Hasenstrick?

Answer

There is plenty of available parking at our wedding venue!

Question

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Answer

The path (~200 meters) from the hotel to the area where we will have our celebration is a flat gravel path that shouldn't pose a major challenge to a wheelchair. The ceremony will take place on grass. If you have any concerns about accessibility, please contact us and we will make the necessary arrangements to accommodate you.

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

We respectfully ask you to restrict the attendees in your party to only those listed on your invitation. Regarding children, we will be following the Swiss government's COVID-19 guidelines and we will keep you updated.

Question

Can I bring a +1?

Answer

We respectfully ask you to restrict the attendees in your party to only those listed on your invitation.

Question

How do I get around Zurich? What's public transit like?

Answer

Zurich has a very comprehensive public transport system consisting of trams, trains, buses and ferries... and things always run on schedule ;) Any ticket you purchase is transferable to other modes of transportation. We suggest you download the 'ZVV' app from the app store of your choice and register your credit card. That way you can pre-purchase tickets or just check in whenever you enter a mode of transport (don't forget to check out at the end). Taxis are very expensive in Zurich, so UBER is the way to go.

Question

How should I pay for stuff? Can I pay with Euros, USD?

Answer

Switzerland uses the Swiss Franc (CHF). We suggest you pay whenever possible with credit card since exchange bureaus won't give you as good a rate. If you're in Europe before the wedding, live in the EU, or just have cash left over from your last trip on the continent, you can pay in Euros at most places. However, the exchange rate is usually fixed and unfavourable towards the customer. US Dollars are not widely accepted.

Question

I plan to travel before and/or after the wedding... Where can I go?

Answer

Switzerland has an abundance of beautiful places you can visit and everything is less than 3 hours away from Zurich. Plan to venture beyond the Swiss borders? Every major European destination is less than 1.5 hours away by plane. Want to not worry about airports and tiny plane seats? Take the train! Paris (4h), Rome (6h), Berlin or Amsterdam (both 8h) are only a selection of very manageable train journeys.

Question

What things can I do while I'm in Zurich? (Activities, restaurants, site seeing)

Answer

Check out our "things to do" page on our website to see some of our recommendations.

Question

How do you read street addresses in Switzerland?

Answer

Unlike in North America, in Switzerland when writing a street address the number appears after the street name. For example, our wedding venue is located at Höhenstrasse 15.
