Together is our favorite place to be

We met through our mutual friends Abby and Justin, both now in our wedding party. Back in June of 2017 Abby came to visit me in Pittsburgh. At the time, she was facetiming Justin (her now husband), who was hanging out with his friend, Chris. Chris was interested in "Abby's friend", and vice versa so naturally, they encouraged us exchange numbers and we started texting all summer. We finally met in person Labor Day weekend of 2017. Myself, Abby, Justin, and a friend of Justin and Chris', Hunter (who is now our wedding officiant/groomsman) drove all the way from Pennsylvania to Virginia Military Institute to pick Chris up for the weekend. Later that Sunday, Chris asked me to the notorious Ring Figure formal dance where the cadets receive their class rings, a weekend long event at VMI. After that dance, on November 19th of 2017, we made things official and the rest is history. VMI has a superstition that the date you bring with you to Ring Figure, you end up marrying. I guess that held true for us.

In September of 2021, I went home to Vermont to visit my family. After a few days back home, Chris drove up and surprised me. The next day, my parents, Chris and I, took a drive and a gondola ride up to Stowe Mountain Resort. We had planned to grab lunch, hike around and check out the mountain views. At one point, Chris and I decided to veer off and check out a separate path. When we reached an overlook spot near the peak, he got down in one knee and popped the question. Once I could process what was happening, of course I said YES!
