How We Met

11.8.2018

We met on Hinge shortly after Halloween 2018. While Paul was dying on a flight back from Ray & Angie's joint bachelor-bachelorette party, we decided to make that crucial jump from cautious app messaging to IRL phone numbers to plan our first date for November 8th. That night, we met at Robberbaron for a glass of wine. One glass led to two, and then three. And before we knew it, we were on a bar crawl of Paul's favorite haunts, Harper & Rye followed by Balboa. It was clear that neither of us wanted the night to end. Although we didn't make plans to see each other again, Paul didn't waste time. The next day he secured a second date (this time with dinner) and the rest is history.

The Proposal

8.10.19

While on a trip to Yosemite, Micol had a sneaking suspicion that Paul might have an important question to ask her. She was prepared for the 15-mile hike he had planned and excited at the possibility of a "surprise." A few miles into the hike, Micol started to have her doubts. Paul indicated that there hadn't been an opportunity for him to ask her Dad for his blessing (which was a lie) and he was being way too cavalier with the contents of his backpack. He was also displaying a concerning lack of attention to Micol's inability to keep up. At mile 10, Micol realized two things: (1) this hike was definitely more than 15-miles and (2) he wasn't going to propose. In salty desperation, while walking up yet another mountain she asked, "Babe? Do you want to marry me?" Paul...didn't really answer. Finally, at mile 18 they approached the last waterfall on the hike, Vernal Falls. Micol had had enough. It was time to push Paul over the edge. But Paul had other ideas and as they descended into the mist, with the sun catching the droplets in the air to create rainbows above them, he got down on bended knee and asked Micol to be his wife. There was no other answer than "Yes!"

The Micro Ceremony

9.18.20

After postponing our 75-person Campovida celebration to July 2021, Paul and I weren't quite sure what to do next. Do we put life on hold or try to move forward with our lives in any way possible? If you know Paul then you know that waiting patiently is not part of his DNA. Paul is a man of action - we have one life to live on this Earth and he is damn sure that he (and now we) will make the most of it. We also knew that we had a baby girl on the way. So of course, we chose option two. We bought our forever home in San Rafael in August 2020 and on September 18th, 2020 we got married in our new backyard. With my brother as officiant, our parents in attendance either in person or via zoom, and our nearest and dearest as witness, we made it official.
