Our paths crossed during a social justice event when our writing got us both in trouble with medical school administration. While working on our revisions, Ian asked Michelle to play him in ping pong. They played every day until Ian finally mustered up the courage to ask Michelle out to eat. And it was that evening at Eureka when their relationship took off. Often quality time meant study dates and coffee breaks, but we always found ways to have special moments with each other. We laughed, we cried, and we committed to one another March 10, 2016 when Ian asked Michelle to be his girlfriend.

Fun in nature is what the Simpson-Shelton-Keyser's do best. Following our first board exam, we took our first trip together to Colorado. We scaled the Rockies and Ian watched Michelle make friends with a moose. That passion for travel and exploring nature became the foundation for our relationship. It's where we share our love for each other and the world around us. It became our safe haven for deep conversations where we explored our differences and similarities. And like the time Michelle convinced Ian to backpack 37 Miles of the Catalina Trail for his first backpacking trip together, we used moments where we stood outside of our comfort zone to build our love.
