Travel Note

Driving To Alderbrook

There are several ways to drive to Alderbrook from SeaTac. The fastest way is to get there is driving through Tacoma, across the Tacoma Narrow's bridge, past Gig Harbor (a really cool waterfront stopover for lunch or dinner), through Belfair and then down the Hood Canal to Union. Depending on traffic, you might also choose to drive through Olympia and then head north up 101 to Union. Either way, you don't need a ferry to get to Alderbrook!

Flight

Seattle Tacoma Airport

If you are coming from out of town, the easiest place to fly into is SeaTac airport. You can also fly into Everett, though it will take longer to drive down to Alderbrook. SeaTac is already south of Seattle, so you are closer to Alderbrook when you land. Alderbrook is about an hour and a half drive from SeaTac after you land. Let us know if you are looking to share a rental car, and we can help hook you up with someone else landing, or heading south, at a similar time.

Travel Note

The Scenic Route

While you don’t need a ferry to get to Alderbrook, catching the ferry can be a really fun experience and affords some fantastic views of the city. The Seattle/Bremerton ferry is really easy as you don’t need reservations and it rarely gets full and on a Friday afternoon. If you are coming from Seattle, it’s much quicker than driving through Tacoma if there is traffic. Even if it ends up taking the same amount of time give me an hour on the ferry over i5 any day! Here is the ferry schedule: https://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/Schedule/ScheduleDetail.aspx?departingterm=7&arrivingterm=4&roundtrip=true

Other Places to Stay

For anyone looking for accommodations with more flexibility in pricing or size, there are some great options in the area (but be sure to read the note below before booking!). If you are looking for another hotel, The Robin Hood Village is right across the road. Before you book, make sure that the place you have found is on the same side of the canal as Union and Alderbrook. There isn't a bridge, so you have to drive all the way around the canal (or swim) if you choose a place across the water. For example, there are a lot of great places in Tahuya, but it takes an hour to drive to Union from there! A good range to look in is between Belfair and Lilliwaup.
